Celebrating Thanksgiving in the UK

Although we couldn't find all the ingredients to make Thanksgiving dinner we found substitutions that worked just as great. I'm glad to have celebrated Thanksgiving with the people I met here. It made me feel less far away from home.

Every dish tasted so good. I've never eaten stuffing that was good as the one we cooked last night. We wanted to make pumpkin pie but couldn't find any pumpkin puree or pumpkin at all so we substituted with a butternut squash which turned out really nice.  

I skyped with my sister earlier and my sister told me that my parents bought a 55" plasma screen TV on Black Friday. My parents are adorable and hilarious, they left at 3AM to go get the TV at Sam's Club! After they got home they went to work and when they came home from work they went shopping again! They're looking for a table for the TV this time. As crazy and stupid Black Friday can get, I must admit that I like the chaos of it and find it hilarious and just very American. 

After my weekend in Bristol I caught tonsillitis. I've never had this before but it took about a week for it to go away. After it did, I did a bad job at taking care of myself because I cough often and I notice every time I talk for a while my throat starts to hurt and it almost feels as if it's coming back! I'm taking these next couple of weeks staying in Swansea, resting and catching up with my coursework. I want to write all my essays before Christmas break comes and I've got less than a month to do so! We'll see how that goes. I don't see myself going out traveling anywhere else before Germany for Christmas break - I'm so low on money now. But I've been feeling pretty good this week and Christmas is just around the corner!
