Applied for accommodation today! I got to choose between 3-4 different housing places and got to choose which ones I preferred the most. My first choice was a building called the Ty Beck House, which is less then a mile away from campus (I don't mind living away from campus, I like the idea that I will be using transportation and possibly riding a bike to school). The "house" is actually a big flat area and the style is Victorian-like. The building is for "mature students" who prefer a quieter environment and for students who have their families living with them. Here's how Beck looks like from the outside:
Although my choices seem a bit antisocial, I'm not trying to avoid any party scenes or social interactions. I'm sure I'll get lots of social settings at this place. My other preference is a building called Singleton Residences, which is the closest on campus and I think practically on campus. Singleton is very involved with school activities. Both Beck and Singleton are single-room apartments, I believe.
My last choice was Hendrefoelan Student Village, which is two and a half miles away from campus. It's the largest resident site. Although it has a more social-scene environment, I'd have to live in a flat with tons of people. I'm not sure if I want that right now. And as the website says, first years usually live there. I don't know if I quite fit in, knowing that I'll be 21 when I start my year over there. Even though 21 is considered young still I FEEL OLD ALREADY.
My sister and I were browsing around to find the cheapest flight ticket and we found one that was less than $500. Could you believe that?! One way, though but that is what I'm looking for. From what I've read I'd have to fly out to London Heathrow Airport. LONDON! My first steps on another country will be in London, England. AAhh! :)
Well, one thing down off the list! Feeling productive already.
